The Union is Strength is an oft-quoted proverb. it means unity is the source of strength. Several people working together are much stronger than many working separately. To succeed in life, we must unify our efforts. G. P. Morris has said,
"We must hang together or we shall be hanged separately."
There is a famous able of a farmer and his three sons which teaches us the moral that unity makes the people strong. Once upon a time, there lived a poor farmer in a certain village. His perpetual labor and constant vigilance brought prosperity to his home. God had blessed him with three adolescent sons. They were strong, sturdy, spry and stalwart. But unfortunately, they were somewhat hot-tempered and quarrelsome. They often taunted and teased each other just for nothing. Their jeer and sneer were a thorn in the father's flesh. He was deeply dismayed and depressed about their disorderly demeanor. Now and then he admonished for their boisterous but all his effort to appease their anger proved to be futile and fruitless. He tried his best to make them realize that their quarrelsome nature would lead them to ruin but they turned a deaf ear to his words.
Union is Strength - Story for F.Sc 1st Year Pre-medical
He could not settle their strife and squabbles. This thing pricked him day and night. He took their disunity to his heart and fell terminally ill with a little hope of recovery. He prayed to God for help. He realized that his end was near. So, even on the death-bed, he always remained pre-occupied with the bad end of his children. One day, he resolved to give them a practical illustration of the evil is of disunion. A bright idea struck him to bring home to them the importance and blessings of unity. He called his sons to his death-bed and requested them to fetch a bundle of sticks. They complied with the orders of their father and brought a bundle of sticks. First, the old man admired them for their Solid strength and feral force and then he challenged them if anyone had the power to break the bundle. The sons accepted the challenge instantaneously and got ready to break it. First of all, the youngest son-stepped forward and tried his best to break the faggot (bundle) but after a long struggle he had to admit that he could not break the bundle. Then came forward the elder brother. He also endeavored and exerted all his energy y to break it but in vain.
"You weak and willow-wild. Be off with you. Let it be seen being broken."
It is said by the eldest brother. He was a very powerful man. He came forward with great zeal and zest and strained every nerve to snap the stout bundle. For all his strength he could not break it because the sticks were united and strong. At length. he too owned himself beaten and gave up the attempt. When the old man saw their helplessness, he asked them to unite, the bundle and then break the sticks separately. Now it was quite easy for them to break the sticks because ht sticks had grown weak after being disunited. They broke all the sticks in no time with the greatest ease. Now it was the time for the old farmer to analyze and explain the whole situation to make them realize the importance of unity.

He addressed them thus,
"My sons, you have observed the strength of unity. You could not break the bundle od sticks because they were all tied together. But the moment they were disunited, you were able to break them easily. Likewise, as long as you remain united to assist each other, you will be like this faggot uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies and nobody will dare harm you; but you will be perish like the individual sticks if you quarrel and remain disunited."
The advice bore fruit. The sons grasped the guidance and pledged to be united for ever. They assured their father that they would never quarrel in future. They came round and began to live peacefully. The father was very happy and satisfied with their positive response. After some days, he died peacefully with no worries in his mind. The story teaches us a moral lesson. The people who are united are stronger than those who have no unity in their ranks. The people C face troubles and tribulations and can overcome their problems very easily and successfully when they are united. So it is true to say,
"United we stand, divided we fall."

Possible Morals:
  1. Union is the strength.
  2. United we stand, divided we fall.
  3. Unity is a shield against defeat.
