Kindness Never Goes Unrewarded is an oft-quoted proverb. It means if we are kind to others, they will be kind to us. If we do good to others, they will be good to us. If we help others in their hardships, they will help us in our time of trouble. As Dr. Johnson has said:
"Kindness generates kindness and consolidates society."
There is a well-known fable to illustrate the truth of this proverb.
The Lion and the Mouse - Simple Story for 9th and 10th Class

Once upon a time, there lived a mouse in a certain jungle. He was very fond of outdoor visits and pleasure trips. Whenever he was out of his hole, he would hop and jump, sing and dance to enjoy his life. one wintery noon, while wandering outside he saw a lion enjoying a siesta in the sun. He thought of a trick of enjoyment. He climbed up the body of the lion and began to move ονer it, The mane on his neck attracted him much. So, he began to hop and jump and then started dancing there in a jolly mood. In this way, he disturbęd the lion in his sleep. Once, when he was repeating the feats, the lion woke up and got much annoyed at the impudence of the mouse. He Caught the mouse in his strong paw in anger and thundered,
"You little silly creature. How dare you trample over my body? Are you blind? Don't you see, I am lying here for midday rest?"
The mouse looked terrified. The lion was about to crush him when mouse begged for mercy and said humbly,
"O! king of forest, kindly forgive me for this foolish act and spare my life. Actually I did not mean to disturb you. I am a bit short-sighted and did not know that I was walking on your body. I know you are all powerful and I am not match for you. Please let me go, I hope to pay back your kindness one day or the other."
The lion heard his supplication and was amused at this self-importance of the poor little mouse. He burst into laughter with hatred and scorn and said,
"So, you will do something for me! It will be really so nice of you."
He laughed again and let him off but warned not to be funny again. A month or so later, a lion hunter came to the forest. He laid his trap and the lion was caught in the meshes of the net. His strength could not help him that day, He tried his best to free himself but all in vain. He was sure that the hunter would come and take him away kill him. He roared and thundered, groaned and growled in his predicament. The mouse who lived nearby in a hole heard the roars of the lion. He came out of his hole and saw the king of beasts in miserable plight. The lion looked quite helpless. The mouse remembered his promise.
"There can be no better opportunity to return the favour."
said the mouse. He took heart and began to nibble the strings of the net slowly but steadily with his small but sharp teeth. Ultimately, the net was cut and the lion got free before the arrival of the hunter. So, the lion's kindness to the mouse saved the life of the lion. There were tears of gratitude and joy in the eyes of the lion. He could never believe that a little Creature like mouse could be so helpful in the hour of trouble.
"How wrong was I in considering others mean."
thought the lion. Now the lion realized that sometimes even a little friend can be of great help. So he vowed never to laugh at the little animals again. He checked the mouse and went away into the jungle feeling obliged to the mouse. We learn a lesson from this story that love begets love and one good turn deserves another. The strong and the weak, the rich and the poor need each other's help. All the creatures of Allah Almighty have a role to play. Sometimes the role played by a small creature is more significant than the role played by bigger one. If we treat a small one nicely, maybe he will be able to payback in his own time. Therefore cooperation is of great importance.

Possible Morals:
  1. Kindness never goes unrewarded
  2. Do good, have good.
  3. Forgiveness is the best way of revenge.
  4. No one is so small to help others in the hour of need
  5. One good turn deserves another.
