      • The theme of the poem 'The Delight Song' is joy that leads to life and wisdom. The poet is delighted to be a part of nature. The poet sees his ownself in the evening light, in the shining stars, in the sound of the rain, in the crust of the snow and in the long track of the moon. This association with nature helps the poet in forming relationship with the earthly objects and creatures, with the Creator and . with everything that is beautiful and beneficial for all the creatures of the Lord. This realisation makes him feel that he is fully alive, happy and strong.

What do you understand when the poet says "I am the shadow that follows a child"?

The poet means to say that he is present in everything. He is present even in the shadow that follows a child. Maybe, the shadow always remains with the child to protect him.
